At Christ Presbyterian Church, our conviction that the Bible is the authoritative and sufficient Word of God shapes everything we do. This conviction lies at the heart of our core value Depending on God Alone.
the triune god
God as “three Persons in One” (Trinity) expresses the distinctive Christian understanding of God and reflects our view at Christ Presbyterian Church. The Bible speaks of one God but attributes the characteristics of God to three Persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit. This is the understanding that is behind our core value Trinitarian Worship.
salvation
Because we are dead in our trespasses and sins, and apart from God's miraculous new birth, we are doomed to eternal separation from God, we need God to rescue us. This rescue is what the Bible calls salvation, where God is making us and all things new. This is why we we hold to our core value Redemptive Perspective.
the holy spirit
The Holy Spirit is not a force or magic power. He is the third person of the Trinity. He applies Christ's salvation to God's people, dwells in them, and empowers them to live as children of God.
discipleship
Kingdom discipleship is not merely about gaining information. It is about becoming people who increasingly submit every area of life to the lordship of Jesus Christ and help others do the same. This is the understanding that is behind our core value Kingdom Discipleship.
the church
God intends His people to live out their new life together in the Church. The Christian life was never intended to be lived alone. God saves us into His family and joins us to His people. This is the foundation of our core value Adopted Into God's Covenant Family.
baptism
God has given His covenant people signs and seals that represent Christ and His benefits, confirm His covenant promises, and distinguish His people from the world. God confirms His covenant promises to His people with the visible sign and seal of baptism.
the lord's supper
Christ continually nourishes and strengthens His covenant people through covenant signs and covenant meals where He proclaims His promises, strengthens the faith of His people, and deepens their fellowship with Him. Jesus has given His Church the covenant meal of the Lord's Supper.
