The Bible compares a healthy disciple (follower) of Jesus to a tree. The root system of that tree, which keeps us standing during the storms of life, is our identity. If our identity is rooted in who we are in Christ, our tree will be able to stand. If our identity is rooted in anything else, we will fall.
A healthy disciple is like a tree that delights in Christ and is deeply rooted in their union with him so they are unmoved by the storms of life. It is a life of wisdom where we listen to Christ, live Christ’s teaching and help others do the same.
We love what Jesus loves and hate what he hates, so, anything that opposes him must be destroyed, even if it is in us.
We should be overwhelmed by God’s plan for us and that we are objects of his divine love.
God’s presence is everywhere, and because we are united to him through Christ, we should live in awareness and confidence.
God knows us so intimately, so thoroughly, that nothing that we think, speak, or do is hidden from God, this is terrifying. Yet, because of the person and work of Christ, we are surrounded on every side: he is with us and for us, this is delightful.
We are to pray for and work in the church with the same desire and goal of Jesus, to see his bride, the church, be without spot or wrinkle.
