What We Believe
At Christ Presbyterian Church, we believe the Bible is the authoritative Word of God and that it reveals who God is, what He has done, and how we are to live as His people. As those who are depending on God alone, these truths shape everything we are as a church and how we live together as His covenant family.
Scripture
We believe the Bible is:
inspired (God-breathed)
inerrant (without error in all that it affirms)
infallible (incapable of being wrong or misleading)
authoritative (final authority for life and faith)
sufficient (contains all we need for salvation and faithful living)
Because God has spoken, we live as a people dependent on His Word, not on ourselves.
The Trinity
We believe in one God eternally existing in three Persons:
Father
Son
Holy Spirit
Each Person is fully God, and there is one God. The three Persons are distinct, yet equal in power and glory, working in perfect unity:
The Father plans redemption
The Son accomplishes redemption
The Spirit applies redemption
This one God (Father, Son, and Holy Spirit) has always existed in perfect love and now brings us into that love through Jesus Christ. We worship the Triune God, and our life together reflects His perfect love and communion, shaping us into a people of Trinitarian worship and shared life.
Jesus Christ
We believe that Jesus Christ is fully God and fully man: one person with two distinct natures. He:
lived a perfect life
died as a substitute for sinners
rose again
now reigns as Lord
Through Him alone, we are reconciled to God. In Christ, we see God’s redemptive work: He forgives our sin, removes our shame, and restores us to new life as His people.
The Holy Spirit
We believe the Holy Spirit:
gives new life (regeneration)
indwells every believer
sanctifies us, conforming us to Christ
equips us for ministry
By the Spirit, we grow as disciples and are empowered to live lives of kingdom discipleship, reflecting Christ in every area of life to the glory of God.
The Fall
God created humanity good, but through sin, we rebelled against Him.
Because of sin:
we are separated from God
our whole nature is corrupted by sin
we are under God’s just judgment
Yet even in our sin, we see the world through a redemptive lens (perspective), trusting that God is at work to restore in Christ to restore what has been broken.
Salvation
We believe salvation is entirely by God’s grace.
Through Jesus Christ:
our sins are forgiven
we are reconciled to God
we are brought into His family as His sons and daughters
This salvation is received by grace alone through faith in Christ alone, expressed in repentance and faith.
Those who trust in Christ receive eternal life with God, while those who remain in their sin will face God’s just and eternal judgment.
As those who are adopted into God’s covenant family, we now live together as His people, growing in love, unity, and mission.
The Church
We believe the Church is God’s covenant family and the body of Christ, a people gathered around the Word and sacraments to worship, grow, and be sent into the world.
We practice the sacraments of Baptism and the Lord’s Supper as means of grace, instituted by Christ as visible signs and seals of the covenant of grace for the strengthening of His people.
As a church, we seek to live out our identity through:
depending on God alone
living as His covenant family
worshiping the Triune God
embracing a redemptive perspective
pursuing kingdom discipleship
